School Nurse

My name is Beth Antonucci and I am happy to be entering my 7th year as the School Nurse for Bristow Run ES. My husband and I moved to Virginia from Pennsylvania in 2017. I am a RN and previously worked as a Pediatric Nurse and Supervisor at a large Pittsburgh Hospital for many years prior to receiving State certification to be a School Nurse. I worked for the same School District in Pennsylvania for 17 years before our move.

As we begin the 2023-24 school year, I will continue to be available via email or
the school clinic phone daily from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.: [email protected] 571-222-9875

Please don't hesitate to contact me, if I can be of any assistance.

Dear Parents,

There may be students in your child's classroom that have severe life-threatening allergies to nuts which may include peanuts, peanut butter, pecans, walnuts, almonds and other nuts, nut oils (peanut oil) and nut flavorings (almond extract). Allergic reactions are triggered not only by ingesting these products but through touch and inhalation as well. Even small amounts of residue can cause an allergic reaction. We are making every effort to ensure that their safety and health are not jeopardized, but we need your help. You can help by sharing with your child a few precautions we can take to protect these classmates.

*** If your child has eaten peanut products before coming to school or during lunch, please ask them to wash their hands and face thoroughly before entering the classroom. Frequent hand washing also prevents the spread of germs!

***All classrooms are NUT FREE, so if your child brings a daily snack for eating in the classroom, please provide options that don't include nuts or nut products.

*** If you are considering celebrating your child's birthday in the classroom, consider pencils, stickers, erasers or other non-edible treats instead of food items. Other students may have allergies to milk, eggs, soy, or wheat and they would have to be excluded from edible treats as well, so a non-edible treat would be something ALL the students could enjoy.

These simple measures will greatly reduce the possibility of exposure and thus reducing the possibility of a severe reaction while attending school. Thank you in advance for your consideration in making the school environment safe for these children. Together we can make the school a safe and healthy learning environment for all of our children.
